“Sometimes we take our own lives so seriously that there is scarcely room on the planet for any other life.” - “Thank God for Humor!” from Howard Thurman’s Meditations of the Heart.Levity and ego come head-to-head in this two-day improvisation workshop centered around allyship.Starting in the unconscious and ending up somewhere near taking yourself less seriously, this improv comedy course explores our past, our dreams, and our ethics by taking ourselves out of the equation to better see the world around us.Participants will work on a stillness of mind that allows them to step back from their own point of view and listen, think, and empathize with a powerful soft focus. This workshop will take what you know about improv comedy and push the boundaries of humor to truly discover what it means to laugh at being human.If improv is something you’ve always wanted to try or perhaps you sense there’s something deeper to explore, then come see what’s beyond the average comedy class. We invite participants to seek out our blind spots, laugh at the antics of our own decision-making, and experience the joy of being alive through another’s eyes. Developed by Connor Bond and Fable & Sow's Artistic Director, Hamp Fluker, Improv for Allies asks participants to live in the questions while having the courage to laugh at the answers. About the Instructor
Connor Bond is an actor and educator living in Beacon, NY. He received his MFA in Acting from UC Irvine and has taught and performed improv in New York City and in the Hudson Valley for almost a decade. Growing up with a background in jazz and musical theater in Portland, OR, his teaching comes from a place of musicality and play. He's very excited to be collaborating with Fable & Sow to develop advanced, grounded and expansive offerings to the Hudson Valley community.DATES: Saturday, September 6th, 2025 - Sunday, September 7th, 2025
