The Fable Folk

Amber Reauchean Williams

Co-Founder & Farm Manager

‘Ber is an actor, writer, voiceover artist, herbalist, and activist farmer who fell in love with gardening as a child in her grandmother’s garden.

Growing up in West Philadelphia, her grandmom’s garden was a magical oasis. She spent her summers picking flowers, running from bumble bees, telling stories, and chasing fireflies in her grandmother’s garden nestled in the shade of a grand cherry blossom tree.

Since childhood, Amber has always dreamed of having a garden of her own. She began studying herbalism in 2020 in Brooklyn, NY at the height of the pandemic. A year later, she moved to the Hudson Valley where she finally got her garden. She planted the first seeds for Fable & Sow in her small backyard garden, sowing over 80 medicinal herbs following the principles of regenerative agriculture practiced by her ancestors. She is looking forward to continuing her education in sustainable agriculture, soil science, agroforestry, and the powers of plant medicine. She looks forward to sharing the glorious bounty of nutritious food, stories, and education with her beloved community.

As the Beacon Farmers' Market Manager for Common Ground Farm, he helped the market earn the title of Best Farmers' Market in the Hudson Valley. Throughout his time at Common Ground Farm, he passionately championed initiatives that celebrated and empowered BIPOC and Queer farmers, artisans, and healers.

As a Theatre Educator, he draws on his classical performance training to inspire BIPOC and Queer students to reclaim their voices and power within predominantly white institutions. He is thrilled to join forces with his wife, Ber, as Fable & Sow blossoms into a vibrant hub, nourishing the surrounding communities with food, medicine, and a welcoming place to call home.

Samir Patel

Director of Strategic Engagement

After more than a decade of living and working in New York City, Samir relocated to the Hudson Valley in the summer of 2020, bringing with him a diverse background in arts, urban planning, and nonprofit development. He was widely introduced to the Hudson Valley through  his four years of development work at Hudson Valley Shakespeare (HVS). Here he engaged in HVS' transition to a permanent home through a capital project that raised $53 million. He is enthusiastic about contributing his experience and perspective to support the mission and further develop Fable and Sow's audience.

Samir began his career at the Asia Society and Museum, where he was encouraged to pursue graduate studies in arts administration at New York University. During this time, he developed a strong passion for arts fundraising, launching his efforts by supporting local artists and cultural initiatives. Inspired by the work of environmental artists, Samir later earned a Master of Arts in Urban Planning with a concentration in Environmental Design from Hunter College.

His graduate capstone focused on disaster relief and revitalization of the Rockaway Peninsula following Superstorm Sandy. The team supported dune planting projects to mitigate coastal erosion. They also created an economically focused incubator that facilitated the creation of several local worker-owned-cooperatives.

Throughout his career, Samir has remained committed to advancing the work of individual artists and nonprofit organizations across various sectors, including culture, environmental sustainability, women’s rights, and child welfare. At UNICEF USA, he played a key role in expanding a national program aimed at engaging young professionals through innovative approaches of fundraising, advocacy, and education. Between 2017 and 2019, his efforts helped raise $6 million in support of children around the world.

Since joining Fable & Sow in May 2025, Samir has focused on broadening the theater farm's reach and deepening its impact in the community through inclusive and strategic engagement.
