An 8-Week Journey in Non-Fiction Storytelling
Come tap into your inner griot on this eight-week exploration of the technical and spiritual sides of nonfiction writing. Whether you're finally ready to complete that long-awaited memoir, looking for a safe space to share your story for the first time, or facing a chapter from your past you’d rather not walk through alone—this class was created with you in mind.
The Griot welcomes both journal lovers and seasoned writers. Through a gentle blend of writing prompts, guided meditation, somatic movement, and oral storytelling, we’ll support the healing of old wounds and the release of shame that may still live in your voice.
This is an invitation to come home to your story—to tell it fully, freely, and without apology. To reclaim the moments that shaped you. To write them down not just as memories, but as acts of courage, clarity, and transformation.
We are honored to walk alongside you, to support your voice, and to witness the beauty of your becoming.
Your story matters.
Let’s write it together.
The Griot.

About the Instructor:
Bobbi Johnson is an actress, writer, teacher, and spiritual practitioner from Bowie, Maryland. She’s an NYU Tisch graduate, a decorated poet, co-founder of True North Sanctuary, and creator of The Blessed Mess Mindset.
As a child of two southern Baptist preachers, she learned the power of the spoken word, the importance of sacred practice, and the healing potency of nature and community at a young age. Her work sits at the axis of radical artistic expression, community activism, and ancient spiritual practice. It’s her mission to empower others in the true articulation of their highest self and to reinstate artists as the spiritual practitioners and social thermometers of the collective consciousness.
The Griot is open to all writers, poets, and dreamers.
