GRIT FEST

A Celebration of Film and Theatre in Newburgh, New York.

Grit Fest is an evening where story, community, and creative spirit meet under one roof. In collaboration with Dying Industry Films and The Grit Gallery, Fable & Sow Theatre Farm invites you into a living, breathing celebration of what happens when artists gather with intention.

Set in the heart of Newburgh, this multi-layered experience moves from gallery to stage to screen, honoring both the immediacy of live performance and the lasting imprint of film. Grit Fest is not just an event, it is a shared space for witnessing, connection, and joy, where local artists and community members come together to celebrate the work and one another.

The Evening

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM | Cocktail Hour & Gallery Experience

The doors open, and the evening begins in communion. Guests are invited to sip, wander, and connect as The Grit Gallery transforms into an impromptu exhibition. Artwork lines the walls, conversation fills the air, and the space hums with the energy of a community gathering to celebrate creativity.

7:30 PM – 8:30 PM | Live Theatre Showcase

We transition into the theatre. Guided by a host, the room centers itself for a curated presentation of live performance. Selected scenes/monologues from The Study, Fable & Sow’s advanced acting conservatory and other programs take the stage, offering a glimpse into the depth, rigor, and heart of the work, each piece grounded in process and brought to life through the practice of ethical storytelling.

8:30 PM – 9:00 PM | Intermission

A moment to breathe, reflect, and reconnect. Cocktails and light fare are shared as the space gently shifts toward the next chapter of the night.

9:00 PM – 12:00 AM | Film Screenings, DJ Set & Celebration

The evening then opens into a dynamic, dual experience led by our partners at Dying Industry Films.

Inside, a rotating series of short films, curated and presented by Dying Industry Films, showcases the work of Newburgh filmmakers and highlights the depth of storytelling emerging from the local film community. Screenings occur in intervals throughout the night, allowing guests to move in and out of the space and engage with the work at their own pace.

In the lobby, the celebration continues. A live DJ carries the energy forward as artists, collaborators, and guests gather, reflect, and connect. The boundaries between disciplines dissolve, and the evening becomes what it was always meant to be, a shared celebration of story, artistry, and the community that makes it all possible.

The Spirit of Grit Fest

At its core, Grit Fest is about witnessing. It is about honoring process, uplifting local voices, and creating space for artists to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Through the partnership of Fable & Sow Theatre Farm, Dying Industry Films, and The Grit Gallery, this evening stands as a testament to what can happen when craft meets community.

The table is prepared. Come gather.
