The Return - The Fundamentals Acting Course
The Return is a welcoming, immersive acting class designed for artists of all levels—whether you’re stepping into acting for the first time or returning to the craft after time away.
Rooted in a curriculum inspired by first-year collegiate conservatory training, the course offers meaningful, hands-on experience each week. Every class explores a different approach to acting, giving students the chance to experiment with new ideas and strengthen their instrument in dynamic, engaging ways. Students will also be introduced to The Fable Method, Fable & Sow’s original acting technique, which provides a strong and accessible foundation for anyone looking to continue their acting journey. As part of the course, participants will work on scenes from a well-known American play, with scene assignments shared after the first session. Through guided rehearsal and in-class exploration, students will apply each acting approach directly to their work—learning by doing rather than through theory alone. Students who feel comfortable will be invited to share their work in Fable & Sow’s end-of-session Showcase, held on Monday, May 4, at The Depot Theatre in Garrison, New York. The Return is both a place to grow and a place to reconnect—with the craft, with curiosity, and with the joy of storytelling.
About the Instructor:
Jarvis Tomdio is an actor, musician, teacher, and co-founder of True North Sanctuary, and an alumnus of The Acting Studio NY. He has credits in theater, TV, and film. He views art as a tool for transformation and authentic expression. A proud Cameroonian and “nature boy,” Jarvis draws on his roots in a family of healers, farmers, and builders, learning to ground himself and reconnect with his ancestry through working with his hands and the land. His mission is to build community with other conscious creators, believing a spirit-centered village offers a holistic alternative to capitalism. He is excited to join Fable and Sow Theatre Farm and guide returning actors as they step back onto the stage into the game of make-believe in Fable & Sow’s The Return.
