The Study - The Advanced Scene Study Course
The Study is an advanced scene study class designed for experienced actors ready to deepen their craft. Through intensive, conservatory-style training, students will focus on process, character development, and cultivating authentic presence on stage.
Spread over two days each week, the class meets from 7:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Mondays will serve as the mandatory class day, with up to two excused absences permitted. Tuesdays offer an optional second class—a dedicated rehearsal and extended work period. While not required, Tuesday sessions are strongly encouraged for scene partners who want additional rehearsal time, deeper exploration, and more individualized feedback. Each session of The Study explores a distinct theme, guiding students through contemporary scenes that align with that focus. Scene partners will be assigned after the first class so the work can evolve organically throughout the 10-week program. Before the course begins, enrolled actors will receive a detailed syllabus outlining class goals, expectations, and the session schedule. Unless otherwise noted, classes will be held at The Grit. The final three Mondays of the course will take place at The Depot Theatre, intentionally designed to support a smooth and confident lead-up to the showcase. These final sessions will include: • One day to acclimate to and explore the The Depot Space • One full dress rehearsal • One complete dress run in preparation for our invite-only showcase on Monday, May 4th (Day Subject to Change) The end-of-session showcase will allow students who feel prepared to present their work for friends, family, and theatre, TV, and film industry professionals from the Hudson Valley and New York City. Prerequisite Requirement Options: Completion of Fable & Sow’s Return to Theatre course, 2–3 years of professional experience, or an audition.
