Fable & Sow’s The Verse
A 6-Week Classical Acting & Ethical Leadership Intensive

Step into the lineage of performance. The Verse is a six-week, immersive acting intensive designed to take artists deep into the worlds of Shakespeare, Sophocles, Euripides, and other giants of the classical canon—and to make that world not only accessible, but transformative. Taught by Hamp Fluker, this course reframes the classics as a powerful vehicle for self-discovery, rooted performance, and the expansion of the actor’s toolbox.

For many actors, classical text can feel intimidating—distant language, heightened stakes, mythic characters. But The Verse dissolves that fear. By starting with verse, we return to the foundation of dramatic storytelling, gaining tools that translate directly into the work demanded of actors today. If you can tackle this material—text built for boldness, clarity, rhythm, and emotional truth—you can tackle just about anything this industry throws your way.

Hamp Fluker brings a wholly unique approach to classical training. Infusing The Fable Method with hip-hop theory, slam-poetry performance, vocal-weapon work, and Reiki, Hamp bridges ancient worlds with contemporary expression. Participants learn to break down verse with the same clarity and swagger they bring to modern text, discovering new pathways into characters, story, and self. The result: a classical acting practice that is precise, alive, and unmistakably your own.

This intensive is dedicated to the legendary African American actor and activist Paul Robeson, whose words serve as the heartbeat of the program:
“I shall take my voice wherever there are those who want to hear the melody of freedom... My weapons are peaceful, for it is only by peace that peace can be attained. The song of freedom must prevail.”

Following this spirit, The Verse is not only actor training—it is leadership training. It is artistry in service of purpose. Throughout the six weeks, an intimate cohort of participants will explore monologues and scenes from Shakespeare and the ancient world—stories of power, isolation, sacrifice, resistance, and self-love. Through this work, actors sharpen not only their craft but their conviction, learning to ground themselves like the great performers and great leaders before them.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or are a seasoned actor hungry to deepen your skills, studying the classics remains one of the most impactful investments you can make. Verse sharpens technique, strengthens vocal and emotional agility, builds creative courage, and opens a lineage that informs every form of performance we see today—from film and theatre to music, comedy, and contemporary storytelling.

Fable & Sow’s The Verse invites you to step into that lineage—
to learn it, to transform through it, and to carry it forward.
