Fable & Sow Theatre Farm Presents The After Hours Club

Join us for a unique and immersive seven week late night scene study & banned play book club that welcomes all members of the creative community in the Lower Hudson Valley. Drawing inspiration from the rich and mysterious world of underground speakeasy culture, our club will rehearse and actively analyze a selected play as well as explore a diverse selection of banned, controversial, and thought-provoking plays by playwrights of color or writers who are proven allies to people of color’s call for justice throughout history, providing a rare opportunity for in-depth analysis and dynamic performance. 

We will meet bi-weekly at The Grit Gallery Space in Newburgh, a welcoming venue that serves as the home of the Fable & Sow office, creating a perfect backdrop for our creative endeavors. Each meeting will feature guided discussions, collaborative scene work, and the opportunity to connect with fellow artists who share a passion for challenging narratives and innovative storytelling. WITNESS MEMBER

We invite Witness Members to join us in the rehearsal room. Witnesses will have the unique opportunity observe actors in process and learn how Fable & Sow navigates the character creation and storytelling process closely, with the option to offer constructive feedback on what they see, hear, and feel, if Player Members request it. 

It's important to note that no specific outcomes or performances are expected in the game of make-believe. The Witness Members’ role is to contribute to a rich dialogue about the work being undertaken, not to judge performances.. They will serve as supportive audience members throughout this Summer Session of the club.

Additionally, Witness Members are strongly encouraged to read the banned/controversial play of the week as well as participate in the banned play book club roundtable discussions. At each roundtable discussion, Witness Members will have the opportunity to pick a scene from the play of the week and have the Player Members put that scene on its feet and work through it in front of them. Witness Members may also participate in the exploration of the scene in this part of the night if they feel moved to join the play.

Witnesses are welcome to attend as many or as few meetings as they wish. The fee per meeting for Witness members is $35 per session (SINGLE PASS). Single Pass registration will open the Sunday before their preferred meeting date. This registration will close the Friday before the preferred meeting date.
