The Return is a unique acting class for actors of all level developed by Hamp Fluker and taught by Jarvis Tomdio.
Students in The Return will gain valuable experience following a curriculum modeled after the first-year programs at collegiate conservatories. The program covers essential acting disciplines, including Voice and Speech, Movement, The Alexander Technique, Scene Study, and Monologue Work. Each class will focus on different approaches to acting, allowing students to engage deeply with the ideas of influential figures who have shaped global theater traditions. This will provide them with a solid foundation for continued studies if they choose to pursue acting further.
As part of The Return, students will be reading On Acting by Sanford Meisner as part of their classwork and explore scenes from a well-known American play, with scenes assigned after our first session. If the class decides, students can present their scenes to friends, family, and community members. By concentrating on the diverse approaches to acting in the chosen play (to be determined), students will gain a better understanding of and apply what they have learned through hands-on practice rather than just theoretical learning.
The Return is open to individuals of all experience levels.
If you have any questions about the classes, schedule, or if you believe this class is a good fit for you, please contact Hamp Fluker at hampfluker@fableandsow.com.
About The Instructor
Jarvis Tomdio is an actor, musician, teacher, and co-founder of True North Sanctuary and serves as Fable & Sow’s Assistant Artistic Director. An alumnus of The Acting Studio NY, he has credits in theater, TV, and film. He views art as a tool for transformation and authentic expression. A proud Cameroonian and “nature boy,” Jarvis draws on his roots in a family of healers, farmers, and builders, learning to ground himself and reconnect with his ancestry through working with his hands and the land.
His mission is to build community with other conscious creators, believing a spirit-centered village offers a holistic alternative to capitalism. He is excited to join Fable and Sow Theatre Farm and guide returning actors as they step back onto the stage into the game of make-believe in Fable & Sow’s The Return.
