FOUNDING MEMBERSHIP FAQ

WHAT IS FOUNDING MEMBERSHIP?

Founding Membership is Fable & Sow’s yearlong membership for artists who want an ongoing relationship with the Acting Studio.

Rather than simply offering a discount on individual classes, membership is designed to support a year of continued practice: going deeper through the Core Curriculum, exploring additional Studio Courses, receiving individual artistic support, and remaining connected to the larger Fable & Sow community.

HOW MUCH DOES MEMBERSHIP COST?

Founding Membership is $900 for 12 months, paid in 12 monthly installments of $75.

The $75 monthly payment is an installment toward a $900 annual commitment. Founding Membership is therefore not a month-to-month or cancel-anytime subscription.

DO I HAVE TO PAY $900 UPFRONT?

No. The annual commitment is divided into 12 monthly payments of $75.

DO I HAVE TO BECOME A MEMBER TO TRAIN AT FABLE & SOW?

Absolutely not.

Every artist is welcome to register for individual courses and workshops at Standard Tuition without becoming a member.

Membership is intended for artists who expect to train consistently and want to make Fable & Sow part of their artistic life throughout the year.

WHAT CREDITS DO I RECEIVE?

Each 12-month Founding Membership includes:

One $375 Fall Core Course Credit

One $375 Spring Core Course Credit

Two $100 Studio Course Credits

One Audition Coaching Credit

The Fall and Spring Core Course Credits and two Studio Course Credits provide up to $950 in course credit value during your membership year.

Your Audition Coaching Credit and other membership benefits are additional.

WHAT IS A CORE COURSE CREDIT?

Your Core Course Credits are designed to support sustained training within Fable & Sow’s Core Curriculum.

You receive:

$375 toward one eligible Fall Core Curriculum offering

and

$375 toward one eligible Spring Core Curriculum offering.

If the Member Tuition for your selected Core Course exceeds $375, you simply pay the remaining balance.

For example, if Member Tuition is $475, applying your $375 Core Course Credit leaves a balance of $100.

WHAT IS A STUDIO COURSE CREDIT?

Studio Course Credits are designed to encourage exploration beyond your primary Core Curriculum training.

Each member receives two $100 Studio Course Credits during their 12-month membership year.

Each may be applied toward one eligible Studio Course, workshop, or other designated offering.

Think of the distinction this way:

Core Course Credit = Go Deeper

Studio Course Credit = Explore

ARE THE TWO STUDIO COURSE CREDITS PER SEMESTER?

No. Members receive two $100 Studio Course Credits per 12-month membership year, not two per semester.

You have flexibility to use them when eligible programming interests you during your active membership year.

CAN I USE BOTH $100 STUDIO COURSE CREDITS ON THE SAME COURSE?

No.

Each $100 Studio Course Credit is intended for a separate eligible offering. This allows membership to encourage exploration across multiple experiences during the year.

CAN I COMBINE A CORE COURSE CREDIT AND A STUDIO COURSE CREDIT?

No.

Core Course Credits and Studio Course Credits cannot be combined in the same offering.

Each credit has a distinct purpose within the membership model.

CAN I USE MY FALL AND SPRING CORE COURSE CREDITS TOGETHER?

No.

The Fall Core Course Credit is intended for an eligible Fall Core Curriculum offering, and the Spring Core Course Credit is intended for an eligible Spring Core Curriculum offering.

They cannot be combined, transferred between semesters, or applied together toward one course.

WHAT IF MY COURSE COSTS MORE THAN MY CREDIT?

You pay the remaining balance at the applicable Member Tuition rate.

Your credit reduces the cost of the course; it does not necessarily cover the full tuition.

WHAT IS MEMBER TUITION?

Member Tuition is the preferred tuition rate available to active Founding Members across eligible Fable & Sow programming.

This means membership can continue to provide financial value even after you have used your Core Course Credits and Studio Course Credits.

Standard Tuition remains available to non-member artists.

WHAT IS THE AUDITION COACHING CREDIT?

Every Founding Member receives one complimentary private audition coaching session during their 12-month membership year.

The session may be used for an upcoming audition, callback, self-tape, EPA preparation, monologue selection, or other audition-related work.

Optional grounding and Reiki support may be incorporated into the session by request.

DO I HAVE TO INCLUDE REIKI IN MY AUDITION COACHING SESSION?

No.

Grounding and Reiki are completely optional. Your Audition Coaching Credit may be used entirely for artistic and audition preparation if that is what best serves you.

WHEN CAN I USE MY AUDITION COACHING CREDIT?

Your Audition Coaching Credit may be used during your active 12-month membership year, subject to scheduling and availability.

We recommend using it when you have a specific audition, callback, self-tape, EPA, monologue need, or other professional opportunity that would benefit from individualized preparation.

CAN I EXCHANGE MY AUDITION COACHING CREDIT FOR CASH OR ANOTHER COURSE CREDIT?

No.

The Audition Coaching Credit is a specific membership benefit and cannot be redeemed for cash, a Core Course Credit, a Studio Course Credit, or any other membership benefit.

WHEN DO MY MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS BEGIN?

Your membership benefits become available when your 12-month membership commitment begins.

You do not need to wait until you have paid the full $900 to access eligible membership benefits.

Your monthly payments continue according to your 12-month payment schedule.

WAIT, SO I CAN USE A $375 CREDIT AFTER PAYING ONLY $75?

Yes, because you are enrolling in a $900 annual membership commitment, not purchasing $75 worth of benefits one month at a time.

The $75 payment is simply the monthly installment toward that annual commitment.

Once the membership begins, eligible benefits become available according to their individual terms, while the member remains responsible for completing the 12-month payment commitment.

WHAT IF I JOIN AFTER THE FALL OR SPRING SEMESTER HAS ALREADY STARTED?

You may still become a Founding Member.

Core Course Credits cannot be applied retroactively to training that has already been completed.

If you join too late to reasonably participate in an eligible Core Curriculum offering during a particular semester, we will make the applicable Core Course Credit available for the next eligible Core Curriculum semester occurring during your active membership term.

Our intention is that the course credits included with membership represent training you have a reasonable opportunity to use.

DO MY CREDITS ROLL OVER?

Fall and Spring Core Course Credits are tied to eligible Core Curriculum semesters and do not ordinarily roll over simply because a member chooses not to use them.

Your two Studio Course Credits and Audition Coaching Credit may be used throughout your active 12-month membership term.

Membership credits do not roll into a subsequent membership year.

If Fable & Sow is unable to provide a reasonable eligible opportunity for you to use a credit, we will work with you to extend or appropriately reassign it.

WHAT IF FABLE & SOW DOESN’T OFFER SOMETHING I CAN USE MY CREDIT TOWARD?

We do not believe a member should lose a credit because Fable & Sow was unable to provide a reasonable opportunity to use it.

If Fable & Sow’s programming prevents reasonable use of an eligible credit during its intended period, we will work with the member to extend or appropriately reassign that credit.

DO MEMBERSHIP CREDITS HAVE CASH VALUE?

No.

Core Course Credits, Studio Course Credits, and the Audition Coaching Credit have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or refunded as cash.

CAN I TRANSFER MY CREDITS TO ANOTHER PERSON?

No.

Membership, its associated credits, and benefits belong to the individual member and are non-transferable.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WITHDRAW FROM A COURSE AFTER USING A MEMBERSHIP CREDIT?

If you withdraw from an eligible offering at least 72 hours before the first scheduled session, the applicable Core Course Credit or Studio Course Credit will be restored.

If you withdraw within 72 hours of the first session or after the offering has begun, the credit is ordinarily considered to have been used.

Any additional tuition you paid is governed by Fable & Sow’s Cancellation & Refund Policy.

WHAT HAPPENS IF FABLE & SOW CANCELS MY COURSE?

If Fable & Sow cancels an offering, any applicable Core Course Credit or Studio Course Credit will be fully restored.

Any tuition you paid toward the canceled offering will also be refunded according to Fable & Sow’s Cancellation & Refund Policy.

You will not lose an applicable membership credit because Fable & Sow was unable to provide the offering.

CAN I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?

Founding Membership is a 12-month commitment, not a month-to-month membership.

A new membership may be canceled within 7 calendar days of enrollment, provided the member has not used a Core Course Credit, Studio Course Credit, Audition Coaching Credit, Member Tuition registration, or another substantive membership benefit.

Once a membership benefit has been used or the 7-day cancellation period has passed, the annual membership commitment remains in effect, and scheduled monthly payments remain due.

CAN I PAUSE MY MEMBERSHIP?

Yes, members may request a temporary pause when circumstances require time away from the studio.

Approved pauses suspend monthly billing and access to membership benefits. Your membership end date is then extended by the same amount of time so that you retain the full 12 months of active membership.

Generally, membership may be paused for up to two months total during a membership year.

Additional accommodations may be considered in extraordinary circumstances. Pauses require approval from Fable & Sow and cannot be applied retroactively.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY CREDITS WHILE MY MEMBERSHIP IS PAUSED?

Membership benefits are inactive during an approved pause.

Because your membership term is extended by the length of the pause, your remaining eligible membership benefits continue when your active membership resumes, subject to semester-specific Core Course Credit requirements.

WHAT IF SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS AND I CAN NO LONGER PARTICIPATE?

Please reach out to us.

We understand that illness, family emergencies, major life changes, and other unexpected circumstances occur. Extraordinary circumstances may be considered individually and with care at Fable & Sow’s discretion.

An exception is not automatically guaranteed, but we would rather have a conversation than have an artist feel they cannot communicate with us.

IS ACCESS & TUITION SUPPORT AVAILABLE FOR FOUNDING MEMBERSHIP?

No.

Fable & Sow’s Access & Tuition Support provision is designed specifically for artists registering at Standard Tuition when the cost of an individual offering presents a meaningful financial barrier.

Founding Membership already includes Member Tuition, $950 in available course credits, an Audition Coaching Credit, and additional benefits, so further tuition reduction is not built into the membership itself.

If the annual commitment does not make sense for you, you are always welcome to train through Standard Tuition and, when needed, inquire about Access & Tuition Support for an individual offering.

WHAT IF I ONLY WANT TO TAKE ONE COURSE?

You do not need a membership.

If you are primarily interested in one course or workshop, Standard Tuition may be the simpler choice.

And if Standard Tuition is beyond what feels possible for you right now, you are welcome to ask about Access & Tuition Support before registering.

Membership is most valuable for artists who anticipate returning to the studio throughout the year.

IS FOUNDING MEMBERSHIP THE CHEAPEST OPTION FOR EVERYONE?

No, and it isn't intended to be.

If you take only one course during the year, Standard Tuition may make more financial sense.

Founding Membership is designed for artists who expect to train, explore, and continue. The value grows when you use your Core Course Credits, explore Studio programming, take advantage of Member Tuition, use your Audition Coaching Credit, and participate in the larger life of the studio.

WHAT OTHER BENEFITS DO MEMBERS RECEIVE?

In addition to the guaranteed credits and Member Tuition described above, Founding Members receive priority access to select Fable & Sow programming and may be invited into additional artistic, professional, wellness, and community opportunities throughout the Conservatory Year.

Additional opportunities may include professional practice support, member gatherings, wellness offerings, special programming, and Founding Member gifts.

Because these opportunities may evolve throughout the year, they are additional membership benefits rather than guaranteed financial credits.

WILL THERE BE MORE MEMBER BENEFITS IN THE FUTURE?

We hope so.

Founding Membership is being built alongside Fable & Sow's growing life. As our programming, partnerships, faculty, and community grow, we expect the ways we support our members to grow as well.

The credits and benefits specifically identified as included with your membership are the benefits you can rely upon. Additional opportunities will be communicated as they become available.

WHY IS THIS CALLED “FOUNDING” MEMBERSHIP?

These members are helping to establish the first membership community around Fable & Sow’s Acting Studio and Adult Conservatory.

Founding Membership is not simply about purchasing classes. It is an invitation to participate more deeply in the artistic community we are building and to help shape what sustained, ethical, rigorous actor training can look like in the Hudson Valley.

I’M STILL NOT SURE IF MEMBERSHIP MAKES SENSE FOR ME. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Ask us.

We do not want an artist to become a member simply because they feel pressured to choose the “better deal.” Membership should make sense for the way you actually intend to train.

If you are uncertain about your training path, which course is right for you, how your credits would work, or whether Standard Tuition or Founding Membership makes more financial sense, reach out.

We are happy to help you look at your year and find the path that makes sense for you.
