The Playground - Drop - In - Fall Semester 2026

$40.00

THE PLAYGROUND: DROP IN

One Night. One Exploration. Come Play.

Led by Connor Bond

Thursdays, 6:00–7:30 PM
October 1–November 19, 2026

$40 per class

No improv experience necessary.

DROP INTO THE PLAYGROUND.

The Playground is Fable & Sow’s exploration of improv, ensemble work, and devised performance.

And you don’t have to take all eight classes to enter the room.

Each week of The Playground has been built around its own distinct area of exploration. Choose the class that interests you, register for that night, and come play.

Maybe you want to explore physicality. Maybe it’s world building. Maybe you’re curious about clown, ensemble, theatrical devices, imaginary environments, or how performers devise something together that has never existed before.

Pick your doorway.

CHOOSE YOUR NIGHT

OCTOBER 1 · CLASS 01
You and the Audience: On Stage Devices for Play

Explore sound, setting, entrances and exits, pace, interruption, repetition, surprise, and the relationship between performer and audience.

OCTOBER 8 · CLASS 02
World Building and Emoting

Build an imaginary world together and explore how your emotional relationship to that world grows and changes as more is revealed.

OCTOBER 15 · CLASS 03
Physicality as Language

Explore the body as a storytelling instrument through posture, rhythm, tension, gesture, proximity, and physical choice.

OCTOBER 22 · CLASS 04
The Other Person Has the Answers

Stop searching for the perfect idea and start listening. Explore responsiveness, connection, and what becomes possible when your scene partner gives you the next piece.

OCTOBER 29 · CLASS 05
Devising Something Never Seen Before

Use improvisation, theatrical devices, and collective discovery to begin creating original forms and performance structures together.

NOVEMBER 5 · CLASS 06
The Imaginary Set Pieces

Build environments out of nothing. Explore imaginary objects, architecture, space, and the physical reality of an invisible world.

NOVEMBER 12 · CLASS 07
The Mask of the Ensemble

Explore clown, persona, and the ways a group can influence how you move, listen, behave, and see yourself. What if the rest of the ensemble becomes part of your mask?

NOVEMBER 19 · CLASS 08
A Devised Performance Space

Enter a shared devised performance space where character, physicality, world, theatrical devices, listening, ensemble, and play can collide.

Something made by the people who show up that night.

HOW DROP-IN WORKS

Choose the class you want to attend.

Register for that individual session for $40.

Show up ready to work and play with the ensemble in the room.

Each class stands as its own exploration, so you can take one, take several, or return throughout the eight weeks.

No previous improv experience is required.
